THEATER SCREEN LAYOUT

As depicted in the model, the layout looks like a curved theater screen shaped as waterwings and viewed from the concave side. Track on thin shelves climbs back and forth up the screen but here and there the shelves widen to hold track sidings with appropriate scenery - a vignette to view. Now this track doesn't just wind around going in a loop - instead it has a destination - to get to the top. Thus we have a prototypical situation of going from one place to another and that goal is obvious to the viewer. Also just like the prototype, track goes along for miles with nothing of interest and then comes to a picturesque scene worth noting.
