The second figure shows that beneath every shelf a 1" x 1" length of support board is nailed or screwed to the 2 X 4's side. The usual 1/2" plywood and Homasote are then screwed to these shelf brackets forming the track base. Battens are used to butt joint plywood sections together. Then a backing of 1/8" Masonite board is tacked to the 2 X 4's between the shelves. All in all a rather inexpensive construction and probably less complex than the usual L-girder and riser arrangement. |
