AN EXCURSION Giving the residents of Baltimore a chance to escape the summer heat (and increase ridership), the Western Maryland Railway ran daily excursion trains to its cool Pen Mar mountain retreat. As pictured in a book I have, there was no constructed station and passengers had to 'hoof-it' to the park as portrayed here.
