STOCK YARDWhile eastern railroads don't have the massive stockyards of the west, they can have mini-ones that are quite interesting. Notice the central ramp down from the stock-car with the two gates at the bottom allowing cattle to be driven to either side of the pen. The right side has facilities for holding them with a feed bin and watering trough. The left one has another ramp for reloading them onto a truck or, of course, the whole process can be reversed to load the rail car. | |
